Kai’ila – Hilo, Hawaii

All on X Permanent Fixed Dental Implant Patient

I used to eat like this and sometimes talk like this. Yeah. So this is what I got. I’m giddy inside.

Gary, look.

Gary: She basically had to relearn social shyness from that, from grade school kine. Even when I first met her, it was all like this. So she’s still getting used to the fact that she doesn’t have to do anything.

My hands don’t know what to do now.

My name is Kai’ila, and I’m from Hilo, Hawaii. I guess I’ve had dental issues pretty much all my life. I didn’t like dentists. I didn’t want to visit the dentist. When I thought about visiting the dentist, I would just opt not to.
I think I had a lot of pain, and I kind of would bear through it. I would go to a doctor’s appointment, I don’t know, maybe sometimes twice a week for a long time. Those appointments would be an hour and a half to two hours sometimes, just holding my mouth open.

So I’ve been praying for a solution for the dental for a long, long, long time.

My husband and I, when we do things, we always confirm with each other. We always talk it through. He asked, “Do you really want this? Is there any other way, or can we just go and get a dentist and work on the parts that you want?” And I said, “No, because I’ve done that before, and they haven’t listened.”
And so I wanted this. I’ve been wanting this for a long time. Yeah.

I just love it here. I’m really encouraged here. I’m really blessed to have found this place. Everyone was kind and cordial and patient, and excited too. That was another surprise. Everybody was excited for me more than I was, I think. So that kind of threw me off guard because everybody was excited.

I think the convenience of having it on the Big Island, and also having options to come to Hilo or to go to Kona, is way better than flying out to the States and getting that done, and then having to do the follow-ups up there as well. This is why it is very convenient, and it’s local.

I think everyone has a nice heart. Loving people. Yeah, they’re lovely, loving people.

Thank you all for being available. And of course, being in your field, Dr. Greco and Dr. Oka, if they didn’t pursue that, I wouldn’t be here. If the people that worked here didn’t work here, I wouldn’t be here.

And just choosing to be on the island, for one, I think your decisions made it easy for my decision to do this. Yeah.
